Unlock your heart and the rest will follow.
Ruby knows that the
game is up. For the past few months, she's been on her own in the yellow
house, managing somehow, knowing that her mother will probably never
return.
That's how she comes to live with Cora, the sister she
hasn't seen in ten years, and Cora's husband Jamie, whose down-to-earth
demeanor makes it hard for Ruby to believe he founded the most popular
networking Web site around. A luxurious house, fancy private school, a
new wardrobe, the promise of college and a future; it's a dream come
true. So why is Ruby such a reluctant Cinderella, wary and defensive?
And why is Nate, the genial boy next door with some secrets of his own,
unable to accept the help that Ruby is just learning to give?

I guess this book was okay. It wasn't great or horrible just okay. The book you would read for the weekend before the books you really want arrive.
A girl and the cute boy next door that you are sure they'll end up falling in love and they end up dating.
At first Ruby doesn't want any help and when I say ANY HELP I mean any (not even a ride from the cute boy). This is kind of annoying like "Come on! You have a huge house, new clothes... And worst of all your neighbour is a hot blond swimmer! These are gonna be the worst moths of your life, right?"
Reading this you'll say the book it's just about the now rich girl's life and the swimmer, but no... the hottie has a secret. There's a huge plot twist that will leave you open-mouthed. Although, many parts of the book are too predictable, specially everything regarding the relationships between the characters.
With this type of books it's kind of difficult to introduce intrigue and plot twists, so Sarah you have my admiration for the only plot twist in the whole book. Creating a book about an ordinary teenage girl and making it interesting it's a great achievement (I wouldn't be able to do that...). However, I wouldn't categorize Lock and Key as an interesting book. The pace is slow, it doesn't get you hooked at all.
