DEFINITELY ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SERIES!
Lost
and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage
death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is
bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope
Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in
Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard,
has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in
that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest
threat – and his own toughest enemy.
While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?

- Goodreads
After all the summer obsessing over Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight, and re reading them several times (by several times I mean tons of times). Last week I got HEIR OF FIRE!!!
OH MY GOD... Sorry I mean BY THE WYRD!!!!!!!
The third book is as good as the other ones. At first, when I saw it was that long, I was afraid it would be slow-paced however I was wrong (the first chapters are a little bit slow, the rest of the book has a fast rhythm don't worry). It's different from the other books in the series, Heir of Fire has more of magic for example.
We are used to the self-confident, witty, independent, fearless Celaena but reading Heir of Fire you get to know her darkest side, the broken girl that Adarlan has made of her. All her past and the secrets she keeps in the deepest of her.
There are new characters, Sorscha, Aedion, Rowan and Manon. (Can I get a Rowan for Christmas, please?).
Manon, I don't like her story, it's totally disconnected from the main plot. Sarah could have introduce all the stuff about witches and wyverns later. Most of the scenes with the witches are slow and boring. Moreover everything about Manon and the wyverns could be a remix called "How to train your wyvern".
The rest of the new characters are perfectly introduced to continue the action all along the book. And the character development is flawless, new and old characters.
The world-building is as amazing as always. No complaints at all. With all the magic playing a huge role in Heir of Fire the descriptions are essential.
Chaol annoyed me a little (don't get me wrong I love him soooo much). But he needs a whole book of more than 500 pages to decide where his loyalties lie (come on! It's not that difficult). While Celaena is training to be a Fae warrior Chaol is in the castle helping the rebels but..... he doesn't know if he's in the rebels' side or the king's side. Even Dorian is sure!!! Well he has other reasons *wink* *wink*
My emotions. I can't. What's this book doing to me? I've cried and laughed (cried mostly). This book has everything I want.
I cannot wait to read book #4. I WANT IT AND NEED IT NOW!!! Unfortunately we'll have to wait a year or so *cries silently in a corner*
