Read it before the movie.
Choices.
Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her
first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her
family and friends behind?
Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters.

Since the moment I saw the first trailer I had to read this book urgently.
At first I was worried that I wouldn't be able of reading it before the movie came out. Don't worry in one day this book is finished.
It's too short, my edition has 250 page in really big letters and huge margins. But the thing about this book is that it happens within 24h, more or less, plus all the flashbacks.
I thought that the begging would be slow until the car accident, but after 20 pages I was already hooked. I couldn't take off the eyes from the page. It's amazing how a thing that, unfortunately, is so common to hear on the news could make such a great book. What makes great is the realism. All the characters and their reactions are so real and natural.
Another point that makes this book unputdownable is the mix of present and memories, the flashbacks give us a backstory of all the characters, why Mia loves the cello, her parents, Kim, Adam...
And the quotes, this book has several of my favourite quotes ever! Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you.
In my opinion If I Stay is one of the best contemporary novels that I've read. Enjoy it!
