The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey is a must-read! Go to the nearest bookstore and buy it NOW!!!
After the 1st wave, only
darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the
3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule
applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.
Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Books can heal or hurt. The good ones do both. That's why The 5th Wave is a great book. I'll talk more about this later.
Rick congratulations, you gave me chills and made me laugh. He makes the aliens seem human... and hot. But I can't get a clear image of the characters, the descriptions are too superficial and short (for example tell me the Cassie's eye color... That's what I thought).
The way the chapters are told is exceptional, the different points of view of the same scene that we've already read is a perfect narration to get all the details and thoughts of the characters. There should be more changes in the points of views, the long chapters are more boring than the short ones.
There's everything in this book aliens, humans, dead, betrayal, romance... At first the relationship between Cassie and Evan feels forced (quoting Cassie "If you kiss me again, I'm going to knee you in the balls." That doesn't mean I love you at least in English). The only natural relationship is the one between Sammy and Cassie, a normal sister and brother relation, the protective big sister and the little brother.
I miss one thing, Ringer. Why did she change squad? She appeared really abruptly in the story line. Why? What's her past? I hope she's going to be a narrator in The Infinite Sea.
The end, that cliffhanger Oh. My. God. The plot twists. Oh. My. God.
The 5th Wave is original, it's not about vampires, wizards or an annual contest were children try to kill each other brutally. But the key of its success isn't all of this it's that you can't trust no one (like Cassie's motto). Yeah it'll drive you crazy, but that's the thing about The 5th Wave.
Enjoy the greatness of this epic book! The best one of the Sci-fi section.
