Shatter Me

I have a curse
I have a gift

I am a monster
I'm more than human

My touch is lethal
My touch is power

I am their weapon
I will fight back

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

ANNOYING!! This book was really really annoying. At first crossing words out (the sentences Juliette was thinking but she didn't say) seemed original but as the book continued it became tiresome, it's difficult to read this sentence, isn't it? Imagine reading and reading this kind of sentences.
Next problem, repetitive words "James was sound sound sound asleep" If every time you say sound James is more asleep you're going to make him sleep until he's dead.

Numbers were what kept Juliette sane during her stay in the asylum (first of all counting everything what a boring thing to do, find a hobby, paint or something!), well all those numbers are driving me crazy. "My eyes open to 2 eyes 2 lips 2 ears 2 eyebrows" Like most of people Adam has 2 ears. Juliette, sweetie, you should know that by now. Plus, if Adam had 3 eyes 3 lips 3 ears 3 eyebrows you wouldn't find him very appealing, would you?

And now the major problem of Shatter Me... THE PROSE. I was overwhelmed by the prose, you can say things in a different and creative way but THAT was too much.
"I always wonder about raindrops.
I wonder about how they’re always falling down, tripping over their own feet, breaking their legs and forgetting their parachutes as they tumble right out of the sky toward an uncertain end. It’s like someone is emptying their pockets over the earth and doesn’t seem to care where the contents fall, doesn’t seem to care that the raindrops burst when they hit the ground, that they shatter when they fall to the floor, that people curse the days the drops dare to tap on their doors"
Translation "It was raining". IT WAS RAINING simple and easy, see. There's no need to complicate. It just makes the book difficult to read and unbearably boring.

And now the plot (yeah all of that was just about the writing).
First of HOW CONVENIENT! The boy you were in love with is in the army and he heard of a project about using you as a weapon. He volunteers and guess what... he's immune to your touch! How convenient! Too convenient to be real.
It's the typical dystopian, a girl that wants to change the government, there's something that makes her different... The same.
In addition, there's no world-building, unlike Divergent or The Hunger Games. The government is the Reestablishment and that's all we know.

At first when Warner talked about the incident of the little child I thought "Wow that part has to be a pretty sad" and she was trying to help kid who had fallen and he died that's all. Should I start crying now or there's more? That's all. I was wrong, never mind.
And because of all that Juliette is immersed in that state of self pity that I hate so so so so much.
Get your ass up and do something!

The rebel headquarters at Omega Point seems like X-Men, a place where "mutants" can live peacefully (more or less).

Juliette can't resist a hot boy, first Adam and then she kissed Warner (I know it was because she wanted to distract him but she didn't dislike it at all). I can smell a love triangle from miles.
